It was in the air, it’s now official. As rumors have suggested in recent hours, Lionel Messi will become the majority shareholder of a second football club, CD Eldense, a resident of the Spanish second division. The information was confirmed this Thursday by the club in person to AFP.
“CD Eldense can confirm that Lionel Messi has reached an agreement in principle with the current owners of the club to acquire the shares currently held by the TH Soluciones group, which would make him the majority shareholder of CD Eldense”said a spokesperson for the team based near Alicante.
And two for Messi!
“At present, the operation remains dependent on the completion of the final legal and contractual procedures (…) as well as the required authorization from the Higher Sports Council,” however, the spokesperson clarified. The amount of the investment, however, has not been revealed.
As a reminder, the eight-time Ballon d’Or has already offered himself a club last April, the Catalan team Cornella, which plays in the fourth division. According to information from the Iberian daily
