Paris Saint-Germain returns to the Champions League with several uncertainties.

Champions League day for Paris Saint-Germain. This Wednesday, PSG returns to C1 with the reception of Slovan Bratislava at the Parc des Princes, for the first day of the league phase. Double reigning European champion, the capital club still dreams of a historic treble. But for now, the start of the season is far from ideal.

PSG has still not won a single match in the league. After seeing the Champions Trophy slip away from them against RC Lens (1-0), in mid-August, the Parisians were held in check by Rennes and Lille (2-2, 2-2), before losing at home against Monaco (1-2).

Marquinhos announces settings

Present at a press conference on the eve of this European meeting, Marquinhos returned to this complicated start to the season. The Parisian captain did not hide his frustration, particularly in the face of the seven goals already conceded in less than a month. “For a defender, it’s something that hurts when you concede goals, you concede a lot. We know why, we talked, the coach showed videos. It is collective work. We just have to be honest, sincere with ourselves, look for what we can do best. The coach tells us things, the truth”he explained.

But the Brazilian also knows that PSG must quickly correct certain things. For the defender, these difficulties can be explained in particular by adjustments still necessary at the start of the season. “The coach showed us that we had to improve little things. These are details at the start of the season, we sometimes lose a little of the feeling of recent years. We have started the adjustments and it depends a lot on us to find this intensity and this dynamic of recent years”he added. The message from the Parisian captain is therefore clear: PSG must quickly regain its standards. And the Champions League perhaps comes at the best time to truly launch the season for Luis Enrique’s men.
