A particularly unwelcome scene at the Parc des Princes. While UEFA had requested that a minute of silence be observed before all matches on this first day of the Champions League in tribute to the victims of the terrible floods in Nepal, the sequence was disrupted in the parking lot reserved for Slovan Bratislava supporters. Several Slovak fans did not respect the meditation requested before the PSG-Slovan kick-off, immediately provoking the reaction of the rest of the Parc des Princes. The Parisian supporters then booed the behavior observed in the visitor’s park, thus very clearly recalling their disapproval of this attitude.
This minute of silence, however, had a particular significance since UEFA had decided to pay tribute to the victims of this natural disaster during all of the matches on the first day. A message “You are not alone, Nepal” was also to accompany this tribute in the various European stadiums. The Parisian meeting also took place in a security context already closely monitored, with around 700 Slovak supporters expected at the Park, including 350 ultras and around fifty considered at risk by the French authorities.
