PSG nominated for Club of the Year
The five finalists for Men’s Club of the Year are Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Bodo/Glimt, Flamengo and PSG. Crowned last year, Paris Saint-Germain is the big favorite to take over after once again winning the Champions League.
Here we go for the announcement of the nominees!
The first category revealed is the Women’s Club of the Year. And the five teams named are FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Club América, Manchester City and OL Lyonnes. In 2025, it was Arsenal who were rewarded.
What are the criteria for the Ballon d’Or?
Each member of the jury, made up of journalists from the top 100 nations in the FIFA men’s world rankings and the top 50 in the women’s world rankings, must rank their ten favorites according to three criteria clearly defined by the Ballon d’Or.
1. decisive individual performances; 2. collective results and trophies won; 3. class and fair play on and off the field. Points are awarded to players based on this ranking, from 15 points for the first to 1 point for the tenth.
Where and when will the ceremony take place?
Unlike previous years, the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony will not be organized at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. The gala will take place in London this year, the date of Monday October 26 having been chosen. The players will then be in the middle of the international window.
Ousmane Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé and Michael Olise, cited among the favorites, will therefore have to temporarily leave the France team, which will have faced Turkey the day before in the League of Nations, for Zinédine Zidane’s premiere.
Ballon d’Or, it’s the big day!
The nominees of the 70e edition of the Ballon d’Or will be revealed this Tuesday, in twelve categories: Men’s Ballon d’Or (30 players), Women’s Ballon d’Or (30 players), Young male talent of the year (10 players), Young female talent of the year (5 players).
But also Goalkeeper of the Year (10 players), Goalkeeper of the Year (5 players), Men’s Coach of the Year (5 coaches), Women’s Coach of the Year (5 coaches), Men’s Club of the Year (5 clubs) and Women’s Club of the Year (5 clubs).
