This is the surprise of this end of the transfer window. While several formalizations are still awaited, such as that of Enzo Fernandez at Manchester City, Sevilla FC surprised everyone by announcing the arrival of Youssouf Fofana, the French international (25 caps). And this even though there had been no rumors about him.
“Sevilla FC and AC Milan have reached an agreement for the loan, without purchase option, of Youssouf Fofana”announced the club from the south of Spain, in a press release published a few seconds before the end of the transfer window in Spain. A nice blow for the Andalusian team, which started its season well, with two victories in three La Liga days.
A big surprise
Earlier in the day, everything indicated that the former AS Monaco player was going to return to France, since an agreement had been reached by OL with AC Milan for the player’s loan, with an option to buy. But the operation fell through, in particular because the Malick Fofana file dragged on, and the Lyonnais therefore did not have the funds to conclude the operation.
At the age of 27, Fofana will therefore arrive in a new championship, within a club which has lost its splendor in recent years, and which has even been quite close to relegation. There he will find Frenchman Lucien Agoumé, with whom he will share the midfield. Everything indicates that he will be one of the major players in Luis Garcia Plaza’s team, after a sometimes somewhat complicated season in Milan.
