The last danger awaiting OM for Emerson Palmieri

OM are preparing to experience a particularly busy final day of the transfer window. This summer, the Marseille club took a path that was unusual to say the least, with priority given to downsizing and controlling expenses. Faced with significant financial constraints, the Marseille management has increased departures and discussions to reduce a workforce that has become too expensive, without yet registering the slightest recruit. A necessarily special situation for a club which aims to play leading roles in Ligue 1 and which must deal with a demanding sporting calendar. The new management, with Grégory Lorenzi and Stéphane Richard at the helm and Bruno Genesio on the bench, favored a cautious approach, even if it meant letting the transfer window move forward without reinforcement until this final day.

This choice places OM facing a decisive day. Several files still need to be resolved, both in terms of departures and possible arrivals. The club continues to work on several sales in order to create room for maneuver and meet its economic imperatives. At the same time, the needs of the workforce remain well identified and management must now deal with time running out. The market is coming to an end and opportunities will quickly become scarce. Marseille must manage several files in parallel, with the possibility of seeing certain situations unblock in the last hours. After a summer mainly devoted to restructuring the workforce, OM could thus experience a particularly lively end to the transfer window, with important decisions expected before the market closes.

A domino effect to sell Emerson?

And according to our information, Juventus is starting to seriously think about Emerson Palmieri, under contract until 2027, to compensate for the imminent departure of Juan Cabal. The Colombian defender has already reached an agreement with Atalanta and his transfer should therefore push the Bianconeri to accelerate to find a replacement for him. Juventus’ priority, however, remains Nicolas Tagliafico. The Argentinian international is currently Plan A for the Old Lady, but the situation is changing quickly since AtlĂ©tico de Madrid has taken a head start in this matter. If the Spanish club manages to complete the operation, Juventus will immediately have to fall back on another solution. Emerson Palmieri could then take an important place in Turin’s thoughts a few hours before the transfer window closes, while Turin’s interest is not new for the native of Santos.

The profile of the Marseille full-back presents several arguments to convince Juventus in this race against the clock. Italian international, Emerson Palmieri knows perfectly the demands of transalpine football and already has solid experience at the highest level. Before continuing his career at Chelsea, Lyon then Marseille, the player discovered Serie A with AS Roma. A possible arrival in Turin would constitute a return to Italy, several years after his departure from the Roman capital. Nothing has yet been decided at this stage, but the Bianconeri could quickly reactivate this track on the gong. And for OM, who have still not registered a recruit this summer and are seeking above all to downsize their squad, a possible Turin offensive could yet disrupt this last day of the transfer window.
