Genoa formalized this Wednesday the return of Stephan El Shaarawy, who returns to the club from his professional debut. Trained at the Rossoblù training center and launched with the first team during the 2008-2009 season, the Italian international returns to Genoa after a career which notably took him to AC Milan, Monaco, Shanghai Shenhua and Roma, to whom he said goodbye last May. At 33, he has more than 500 professional matches and more than 100 goals during his career, including 32 caps and 7 goals with Italy.
This arrival necessarily represents an operation full of meaning for Genoa, but also for the player. Sports director Diego Lopez was delighted with this signing, believing that El Shaarawy would bring “of class, experience and identity” at the club. For his part, the main party did not hide his joy at finding the colors of his training club. “Coming back to wear this jersey is a bit like coming full circle”he explained. A new stage which therefore marks the return to the sources of the former ASM.
