Clearly, Raul Asencio is more talked about for non-sporting reasons than for what he does on the field. Already involved in a story of sharing video of intimate relations involving a minor, then widely criticized for his lifestyle last season, the Real Madrid defender made the headlines again yesterday. This time, we learned that he was checked with a blood alcohol level four times higher than the maximum allowed in Spain, on August 16. The courts sentenced him to 8 months of license withdrawal and a fine of 14,000 euros.

Facts which also help, in part, to understand why Real Madrid tried to part ways with him throughout the summer. Without success, since the 23-year-old defender did not find a buyer. What is obvious now is that with this new deal, it will be even more complicated for him to play, he who is fifth in the hierarchy of central defenders when everyone is available.

The press doesn’t want it anymore

Asked about him at a press conference, José Mourinho scratched him a little. “I spoke with him when I arrived, about things from the past. But then we didn’t talk about it anymore. I don’t do it for things that happen outside of Valdebebas. And in Valdebebas, he’s a real pro. When he was good, no one trained more or better than him. Now that he’s injured, it’s the first to arrive and the first to leave. But a Real Madrid player is a Real Madrid player for 24 hours of the day. What you do outside can tarnish your image, and that of the club. I’m not happy. We all make mistakes. But when these errors accumulate, it’s something else”indicated the Portuguese coach.

And if the Portuguese coach was logically a little measured in his comments, this is clearly not the case with the media, who are letting go. “He will become a broken toy. A sort of Jack Grealish, with a Canarian accent. What’s going through his mind? He didn’t understand anything. And no one made him understand”launched Radio Marca journalist Raul Valera, followed by his colleague José Manuel Oliván: “It’s a new act of irresponsibility, a huge lack of maturity, a lack of respect for the locker room. There are already several episodes of this player. He has to redirect his situation, which is not easy in this context. I find it difficult to redirect. He must do his part. He will need help from those around him and from Real Madrid”. On social networks, many supporters also showed their anger towards the behavior of the player trained at La Fabrica. He should also be sanctioned by the Madrid management…
