The start of the Parisian season, apart from the victory against Aston Villa, was not easy. Defeated by RC Lens in the Champions Trophy, PSG had to fight to earn a draw against Rennes (2-2) then Lile (2-2). And Luis Enrique, who obviously knows that his team will gain strength as the season progresses, is not worried at the moment.
“It depends on a lot of factors that I can’t control. My job at this point in the season is to find the 11 best players in each game. I’m not worried about when we will be ready at the very highest level. I have seen positive things, but it is clear that we have to improve and that the opponents will be motivated. And it will be hard to start winning. (…) We didn’t start with the easiest one (editor’s note: Lens, Rennes, Lille). It’s a wonderful combination. You have to prepare. A team like ours, we didn’t sell players from the C1 final, we signed young people with experience. It’s a combination that can be positive, but it has to go hand in hand with what you want on the pitch. We remain humble. We know that we are going to have difficulties like every year.”
