Khéphren Thuram will not play again in 2026. According to La Gazzetta dello Sportthe Juventus midfielder will undergo knee surgery in Lyon and will be out for at least four months. The 25-year-old Frenchman has suffered from patellofemoral syndrome since the end of last season and the various treatments followed in recent months have not been able to definitively resolve the problem. After several consultations, Thuram therefore gave his agreement for a surgical intervention which will be carried out by doctor Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, knee specialist. The operation, carried out by arthroscopy, must notably treat patellar chondropathy. His return to competition is now not expected before 2027.
This decision comes after several complicated months for the French international. Thuram had already spent much of the summer on the sidelines and missed all of Juventus’ friendlies. Returning to the bench during the first day of the championship against Frosinone, he was then left to rest before the match against Parma. Luciano Spalletti thus loses one of his midfielders for a long period, a few days after the operation on Kenan Yildiz’s left foot. Juventus will be able to count on its new recruit Pape Matar Sarr to compensate for this absence, even if the former Tottenham player himself is returning from a muscle injury and is not yet fully ready.
