Jonathan Rowe’s summer was ultimately particularly eventful. Arriving in Bologna just a year ago after his time at OM, the 23-year-old English winger quickly established himself as an important element of the Bolognese system. His first season in Italy, concluded with 43 appearances, eight goals and four assists, had logically attracted envy as the final stretch of the transfer window approached. Among the contenders, Atalanta quickly positioned itself with the desire to convince Bologna to let go of their player. A first offensive worth 30 million euros was thus formulated by the Dea before being rejected by the Italian management, which intended to keep one of its major offensive players.

The case then accelerated spectacularly in recent hours. As we revealed to you last week, Atalanta came back with a significantly higher proposal, this time increased to 40 million euros. An offer which, however, did not convince Bologna, still determined to resist the Bergamo attacks. Then, as we indicated to you subsequently, the Lombard club further strengthened its offensive with an oral offer of 40 million euros accompanied by 4 million euros in potential bonuses. For his part, Jonathan Rowe was not indifferent to the prospect of joining Atalanta. The former Marseillais was seduced by the proposed project and this openness inevitably contributed to developing a file which still seemed closed a few days before.

One of the biggest summer files in Italy

And after a few days of closure, it is now official, Jonathan Rowe is leaving Bologna to join Atalanta. The Bergamo club announced this Tuesday the signing of the English winger, thus putting an end to a file which animated the last hours of the Italian transfer window. After several offensives from the Dea and several refusals from the Rossoblù team, the two clubs finally reached an agreement to allow the player to continue his career in Bergamo. An outcome which confirms the information that we revealed to you in recent days on the intensification of discussions and Atalanta’s desire to make Rowe one of its major offensive recruits.

The former Olympique de Marseille player officially joins Atalanta after just one season in the colors of Bologna. Arriving in Italy in the summer of 2025, the English Espoirs international quickly settled into the Bolognese landscape and had a convincing performance with 43 matches played, eight goals and four assists. Seduced by the Bergamo project, Rowe also agreed to join the Dea, helping to advance an operation long blocked by the demands of Bologna. Atalanta will have finally won their case after having considerably strengthened their initial proposal, and can now officially count on the 23-year-old player for the rest of their season.
