Francesco Totti offers himself a new challenge in his hometown. The former AS Roma legend officially joins Maxima Roma, the capital’s new basketball team which will play in Serie A1 after purchasing the sporting title from Brescia. The former Giallorossi striker will occupy an advisory role responsible in particular for the development of the supporter base and social responsibility operations. According to La Gazzetta dello SportTotti signed for three years with a salary exceeding one million euros per season. “I was looking for new challenges and eager to test myself. The role and, above all, the project that was offered to me immediately convinced me”he explained.
Totti also intends to participate in the construction of a long-term project in Rome. “Ambition is important, but the desire to build something that can last over time is even more important. We want to offer Rome and the Romans a basketball team that they can support, that they can identify with and that they can be proud of.”continued the former Italian international. A presence which immediately gives another dimension to Maxima Roma, while Ciro Immobile, another emblematic figure of Roman football but formerly at Lazio, is also involved in the project. In the capital, another basketball project, BC Roma, is linked to Luka Doncic and could notably get closer to the owners of AS Roma, the Friedkins.
