At only 18 years old, Jesse Bisiwu already finds himself at the center of a battle between two selections. According to SPORTthe Ghanaian Federation has been in contact for several months with the entourage of the new FC Barcelona winger and wishes to convince him to represent the Black Stars rather than Belgium. Born in Belgium and Belgian international in all youth categories, from U15 to U19, with 25 caps, Bisiwu remains eligible with Ghana thanks to his family origins since he has never played with the Belgian A selection.
Ghana would now like to accelerate and plans to directly open the doors to the first team, with CAN 2027 in their sights. Belgium would closely follow the GFA’s efforts without having, for the moment, made any official movement. The timing is not trivial: recruited this summer by Barça for 8.5 million euros, Bisiwu has just made an impression during Hansi Flick’s preparation, notably with a double scored in just two minutes against Basel. While he is now trying to gain a lasting place with the Barcelona first team, the young winger will also have to decide an important question for the rest of his career: Belgium or Ghana.
