AS Roma: Gasperini threatened to resign for Manu Koné

Manu Koné’s transfer to Chelsea was almost complete. An agreement around 58 million euros was reached between the two clubs, but Gian Piero Gasperini firmly opposed the departure of the French midfielder. According to La Repubblicathe AS Roma coach even went so far as to threaten to resign if his player left the club, thus blocking the operation in the final hours of the transfer window.

Despite the agreement reached and the interest of Chelsea, Koné will stay in Rome. Gasperini has made it an essential element of his project, while the Giallorossi return to the Champions League this season and aim for the Scudetto. The transfer ultimately fell through, despite an offensive from the Blues estimated at around 60 million euros.
