Following Roma’s big victory in Lecce (0-4), this Monday evening in Serie A, Gian Piero Gasperini made a big announcement concerning the future of his French midfielder, Manu Koné.

Will leave, will not leave? Since his great World Cup with the Blues, Manu Koné has seen his name circulated in quite a few clubs during this summer transfer window. But a few hours before the transfer market closes, the 25-year-old French international is still a Roma player.

The former Toulouse player even made a second start in a row on the Lecce field (0-4) this Monday, while at the same time he would be the subject of an approach from Chelsea. The Blues would have made the native of Colombes their priority in the event of the departure of Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City.

No sale planned to Roma

While his future in the Italian capital seemed uncertain, Gian Piero Gasperini wanted to clarify things regarding the future of his midfielder. “A departure from Manu? I don’t have the impression at all.”said the Roman coach after his team’s victory in Lecce.

“No one at the club informed me of this. Our ownership group has no intention of selling players,” added Gasperini. Enough to put an end to the Manu Koné soap opera?
