Bayern Munich have made an important decision regarding Jamal Musiala after the two illnesses suffered by their German jewel in just a few days. The first episode occurred on August 15, during the friendly match against RB Leipzig, when the attacking midfielder suddenly collapsed on the pitch. Three days later, the same scenario was repeated against Heidenheim. Entering the game in the 61st minute, Musiala fell a few moments later before leaving the field accompanied by club doctors. Two particularly worrying scenes which immediately provoked many questions around the state of health of the 23-year-old player, as Bayern Munich prepared to launch their new season.

Since then, the Bavarian club and the main interested party have wanted to clarify things. Musiala explained that these episodes were linked to a neurological dysfunction causing temporary and very brief absences, while ensuring that they were treatable and that he was not at additional risk. The German international was also very reassuring about his general condition, explaining that he was being monitored by specialists and saying he was particularly optimistic for the future. For his part, Max Eberl recognized that Bayern had known this situation since last season and that it had until then been properly controlled thanks to appropriate medical treatment. After the two new episodes that occurred against Leipzig and Heidenheim, the Munich club decided to act in order to regain the stability which until now allowed Musiala to evolve normally. A decision which will inevitably have consequences on the first weeks of its season.

The doctors made a decision

According to information from BILDJamal Musiala’s drug treatment was thus modified after these two illnesses. The dosage had been reduced slightly and Bayern have now decided to increase it again in an attempt to regain the level of control seen last season. Max Eberl himself explained that this adaptation was necessary after recent events, with the aim of making these episodes of absence disappear as much as possible. The change will not produce its effects immediately, however, since it generally takes around ten to fifteen days for the new dosage to take full effect. This period explains in particular why Bayern Munich does not want to take any risks with their star player. Musiala has been training individually since last Thursday and must gradually return to the group this week, after the rest day scheduled for Wednesday.

This progressive management will have a first very concrete consequence. According to BILDJamal Musiala will not be part of the Bavarian squad for the first day of the Bundesliga against Stuttgart on Friday. The meeting comes too early for the attacking midfielder, who must first continue his return to training and allow time for the new medical treatment to produce its effects. Bayern clearly prefers to prioritize caution and the recovery of their player rather than rushing his return. Musiala’s doctors also recommend that he continue to practice a sporting activity, particularly football, while his general physical condition is considered excellent. Epileptic seizures currently constitute the only real obstacle to its complete recovery. The Bavarian club now hopes to be able to gradually reinstate its number 10 and could consider his return for the second Bundesliga match, on the Schalke pitch. A deadline which will obviously depend on its evolution in the coming days.
