Terem Moffi’s adventure at OGC Nice is officially over. After successfully passing his medical examination, the 27-year-old Nigerian striker signed up for three seasons with Hamburg. The Gym recovers 2.5 million euros, including 500,000 euros in bonuses, and also frees itself from one of the significant salaries of its workforce (295K€ per month). An outcome that had become inevitable for a player who was no longer part of Nice’s plans and whose relationship with the club and some of its supporters had deteriorated significantly in recent months.
Moffi is thus leaving the Côte d’Azur through the back door after a very promising start. The former Lorient player scored 17 goals during his first season and a half with Nice before experiencing a much more complicated follow-up. Injuries slowed his progress, while his relationships with various coaches and then with management deteriorated. His conflict with certain Nice ultras, particularly after a particularly tense return from a trip to Lorient, had further worsened his situation until he was sidelined. Hamburg now offers him the opportunity to relaunch in the Bundesliga and definitively close a chapter that has become difficult in Nice.
