A 2018 world champion joins Zidane, it's official

The famous football video game, EA FC, announced Monday that a 2018 world champion would be part of the new “ICON” maps in “Ultimate Team” mode, alongside Zinedine Zidane.

While the release of EA FC 27 is scheduled for September 25, the famous simulation game revealed this Monday the names of former players who will join the “Ultimate Team” mode, with the highly coveted “ICON” status, reserved for football legends.

Among the newcomers, we find a certain Raphaël Varane. 2018 world champion with Bleus, the former defender, who retired in 2024, has one of the finest records in world football. In addition to his world champion title, the native of Lille notably won the Champions League four times with Real Madrid.

Raphaël Varane thus joins other French legends who also benefit from this status in the famous game of football, like the new coach of the Blues, Zinedine Zidane or even Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira. To name just a few.

Other former players will also be entitled to an “ICON” card in this 2027 season. This is the case of Varane’s former teammate at Real Madrid, Pepe, but also of the Argentinian Sergio Agüero, and the German Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
