PSG has completed its fourth recruit of the summer. After Alessandro Longoni, Maghnes Akliouche and Lucas Digne, the Capital club has finally found common ground with Parma for the transfer of Zion Suzuki (23 years old), according to information from RMC Sport. The Japanese goalkeeper, present at the 2026 World Cup with the Japanese selection, will sign up for five years in the coming days with the double European champions. After refusing a first offer of 28 million euros + 5 million bonuses, Parma finally accepted the second proposal from the Parisian club, to the tune of 35 million euros.
The arrival of a new goalkeeper within the Parisian club, the sixth since the summer of 2023, responds in particular to a desire to prepare for the future in a position with very strong competition. The Parisian club believes that Suzuki has an interesting margin for improvement and has seen its popularity grow considerably in Japan after its good performances at the last World Cup across the Atlantic. The marketing aspect must also be taken into account, since the club chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi wants to continue the development of its popularity in Asia, while the club has already lost Kang-in Lee, who left for Atlético de Madrid.
A loan is being studied for Suzuki
If Suzuki’s arrival in the French capital is almost complete, there is no guarantee that he will wear the PSG jersey during this 2026/2027 financial year, especially with Matvey Safonov and Lucas Chevalier in the hierarchy. Especially since the French international (1 selection) seems set to stay in Paris this season. Relations between the two clubs have warmed up, particularly following the permanent transfer of Randal Kolo Muani. It remains to be seen whether the leaders of the Old Lady – who were also in the race to recruit the Newark native – will be open to welcoming him on loan without having an option to buy. Other clubs have also positioned themselves, while another possibility remains to see Suzuki continue its adventure in Parma.
