Not extended within the columnists of the L’Équipe channel, Johan Micoud has found a new mission and will join Ligue 1+.

His mandate was almost as long as that of Didier Deschamps as coach of the France team. In any case, it will have ended at the same time as that of his former teammate with the Blues. Arriving on the L’Équipe channel in 2014, Johan Micoud left the media which employed him as a columnist. But the former midfielder quickly found something to do since he will join Ligue 1+.

According to information published this Thursday by L’Équipe, Johan Micoud will now comment on matches in the French Ligue 1 championship, several times per weekend. The winner of Euro 2000 with France will also have the opportunity to comment on up to two per day.

He will mainly be in charge of the match broadcast on Saturdays at 5:15 p.m., formerly owned by beIN Sports. It was also clarified that on weekends where he will commentate on two matches, Johan Micoud will work in the same time slot of 5:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Johan Micoud commentator, not a first

Its big premiere is already set, since it will be the Saturday poster between the Racing Club de Strasbourg and the Racing Club de Lens (August 29, 5:15 p.m.). This is not the first time in his career as a consultant that the former Girondins de Bordeaux and Werder Bremen will comment on Ligue 1 matches.

Between 2010 and 2012, for example, he worked on the championship matches broadcast at the time on Foot+, a Canal+ group channel. More recently, he returned to service in this discipline by joining the Amazon Prime Video teams in 2021.
