Strasbourg is still at the forefront of the summer transfer window. After Diogo Sousa, Angelo Candido, Mateo Del Blanco, Benjamin Brantlind, Milosz Piekutowski and Genesis Antwi, Racing has just formalized its seventh recruit of the summer: American international Giovanni Reyna. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder arrives from Borussia Mönchengladbach for a transfer estimated at 3 million euros.

In Mönchengladbach since last summer, the American international (43 caps), present at the 2026 World Cup, played 20 matches last season in all competitions for a total of a small goal and an assist after revealing himself for Borussia Dortmund. In six seasons with the Marsupiaux, Giovanni Reyna played 147 matches in all competitions, scoring 19 goals and providing 18 assists.

Reyna seeks to relaunch in Ligue 1

He has signed up for the next five seasons with the Alsatian club after his move to the Bundesliga. “The Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace is pleased to announce the arrival of Giovanni Reyna. The 23-year-old American international attacking midfielder has signed with Racing until 2031. The entire club welcomes him”specifies the club press release.

It could be an excellent deal for this phenomenon who revealed himself at the age of 16 in Dortmund, where he experienced a meteoric rise alongside Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland in particular. But injuries have slowed his progress and he could take advantage of the Strasbourg context to get back on track, coming off a great second World Cup, where he scored a great goal in the American victory against Paraguay.
