The Ferran Torres case continues to take on an unexpected dimension at FC Barcelona. While the Spanish striker seemed destined to continue his adventure in Catalonia, the situation has suddenly become tense in recent days. Under contract with Barça, the former Manchester City player publicly opened the door to all possibilities regarding his future, leaving doubt about his real intentions. “I have a contract with FC Barcelona, but in football you never know. I’m waiting to make the right decision. I don’t know yet.”explained the Spanish international, in comments which quickly sparked reactions internally. After a season marked by a rise in power and a reinforced status, particularly after his goal scored in the World Cup final, Ferran Torres now believes he is in a strong position to negotiate with his leaders. The 26-year-old striker is waiting for guarantees and asks the Catalan club to concretely demonstrate their desire to keep him.

The message sent by Ferran Torres was mainly interpreted as direct pressure on the Barcelona management. The player has clearly asked Barça to take action while discussions around a contract extension are currently blocked. “They have to show me that they want me, come and negotiate and in the end it’s all a question of discussion”he said, before adding that he retained control of his future thanks to his contractual situation. His lease expires in June 2027, which allows the Spaniard not to be in a hurry and to take his time before making a final choice. The announced interest from Paris Saint-Germain has become a major element in the matter and Ferran Torres has not closed the door to the Parisian club and recognized that the attention of a team of this size necessarily remains rewarding. “It’s always a good thing when teams like that want you. In football, everything can change in a minute”he explained. An outing which immediately fueled speculation around a possible departure for the French capital.

The Blaugrana deadline

And according to information from SportFC Barcelona is now preparing for a scenario where Paris Saint-Germain could quickly take action. The Catalan club is reportedly awaiting an official offer from PSG in the coming days and believes that a Parisian proposal could arrive this week. Internally, the tension is palpable since Barça has still received no clear request to leave from Ferran Torres, but several signals suggest that the striker could have already made a decision. The Catalan leaders have spoken with his entourage and are beginning to seriously consider the possibility of a transfer. The meeting scheduled for August 12 with the player, as well as the hoped-for discussion with Hansi Flick, could ultimately take place in a completely different context if Paris decides to accelerate before this deadline. The Blaugrana, who would ask for nearly 55 million euros, want to keep their player, but do not want to find themselves caught off guard by a Parisian offensive.

Always according to SportFC Barcelona displays a firm position in this matter. The Catalan club does not intend to sell off Ferran Torres and will demand significant compensation before accepting a departure. Management believes that the player’s value has increased after his latest performances and in particular his international exposure. The residents of the Camp Nou would even be ready to take the risk of keeping the striker this season despite the possibility of seeing him leave free in 2027 if no offer deemed satisfactory arrives. However, the leaders also believe that Ferran Torres could be tempted to join PSG and that discussions between his entourage and the Parisian club have existed for several weeks. The situation therefore becomes a real standoff. Barça maintains its extension proposal, but does not plan to outbid, while the player is now awaiting concrete proof of confidence. PSG’s next move could therefore be decisive in a soap opera which takes on a new dimension.
