After attracting Bazoumana Touré (€50 million), Sean Steur (€23.5 million) and French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen (€21.5 million), Newcastle is now accelerating on the Lucas Bergvall track. The Magpies want to strengthen their midfield, cut by the departure of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham for 115 million euros. With this in mind, an offer was made to Spurs for the Swedish midfielder, but it was rejected.
According to information from The Athleticit would amount to 54 million euros. Tottenham would, however, not be against the idea of selling their 20-year-old midfielder, who had expressed in recent weeks his desire for a change of scenery. Under contract until 2031 at Spurs, Bergvall has been the subject of several offers in recent days, but none have, for the moment, met his club’s expectations.
