After a successful first season under the colors of Atlético de Madrid, David Hancko now wants to take a new step with the Colchoneros. The Slovak central defender, who quickly became an important element of Diego Simeone’s system with the greatest number of minutes played in the squad last season, however keeps his feet on the ground. Despite the ambition to finally win a trophy, he knows that the competition will still be fierce.
Asked after the friendly against Manchester United, Hancko did not hide his desire to see Atlético make their efforts this season. “It would be incredible to win something this year, but we know it will be difficult, it will be another complicated season”he explained. The defender also recalled that the group was not yet complete after the World Cup and that the objective will first be to quickly regain collective cohesion before the start of the official events.
