After the departure of Robert Lewandowski, the Catalan club has made Julián Álvarez its top priority, but Atlético de Madrid is currently refusing to open the door to a transfer. Faced with the complexity of the case, Deco and Hansi Flick therefore studied several alternatives, including Harry Kane. Barcelona leaders have inquired about the situation of the English captain and are exploring ways to finance a possible operation.
The track seemed all the more attractive as Kane is only a year away from the end of his contract. Recruited by Bayern from Tottenham in August 2023 for an operation that could approach 100 million pounds with bonuses, the center forward however remains fully fulfilled in Munich. The player and his family are enjoying their life in Germany, while the Englishman remains the German champion’s main offensive weapon. He notably scored 61 goals with Bayern last season.
Discussions as soon as he returns from vacation
According to the latest information from Sky SportsHarry Kane will begin discussions with Bayern Munich upon his return from summer vacation. The Bavarian leaders want to accelerate in order to ward off greed and avoid starting the season with their striker in the last year of his contract. Kane is said to be relaxed about the situation, but Bayern do not want to take any risks after the interest shown by FC Barcelona before and during the World Cup.
Bayern’s objective would be to extend their number 9 for one or two more seasons. The prospect of an agreement today appears to be the most likely: Kane has regularly expressed his happiness in Bavaria and the club still considers him a central part of its project. For Barça, this acceleration therefore looks like a serious setback. Unless there is a spectacular turnaround in the negotiations, the Catalan club will probably have to concentrate their efforts on Julián Álvarez or activate a new offensive track.
