The upcoming adoption of the new law on professional sport could have serious consequences for Nasser al-Khelaïfi. According to The Teamarticle 8 of the text, devoted to the limitation of conflicts of interest in the governance of sport, directly targets the president of PSG, who currently combines his functions at the head of the Parisian club with those of president of beIN Media Groupowner of the channels beIN Sports. A situation considered problematic as the audiovisual group participates in discussions related to TV rights for French football.

The text notably provides for an incompatibility between certain management functions in professional clubs and responsibilities within audiovisual companies. As it stands, Nasser al-Khelaïfi could therefore be forced to leave the decision-making bodies of French football, particularly his seat on the board of directors of the LFP, unless he modifies his organization around beIN Media Group. Those around him, however, are reminded that the Qatari leader is already taking a step back during votes on sensitive subjects, while some observers believe that he could maintain his influence by simply abandoning his official title within the audiovisual group.
