Manchester United know they will have no room for error this summer. After an eventful season, marked by the departure of Ruben Amorim, Michael Carrick was able to turn things around as a coach and convince his management to permanently entrust him with the reins of the team. From now on, Mancunian leaders want to offer him a squad capable of returning to the top in the Premier League and becoming competitive again on the European scene. The transfer window is therefore expected in order to build a team that meets the club’s ambitions.
One of the main projects concerns the midfield. With the departure of Casemiro to MLS, Manchester United wants to recruit a very high level player to strengthen its midfield. According to the Daily Mailthe Red Devils had made Mateus Fernandes a priority, but the Portuguese finally chose to join Tottenham for a check for 98 million euros. Just that. A setback which particularly annoyed the Mancunian management, determined to react by striking even harder on the market.
The Fernandes failure does not pass
Still according to the British daily, Manchester United have now made Aurélien Tchouaméni a priority target for this summer transfer window. The French international midfielder is at the top of the list, even if other profiles are also followed, such as Alex Scott, Tyler Adams and Felix Nmecha. On the other hand, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba would not be part of the avenues currently studied by the residents of Old Trafford, who are obviously looking for different profiles.
The Tchouaméni file, however, promises to be particularly complex. Under contract with Real Madrid until 2028, the Frenchman remains an important element of the Madrid squad and his departure will not be easy to negotiate. But this obstacle does not seem to dampen Manchester United, who have the financial power necessary to try to convince both the player and the leaders of Casa Blanca. The situation of the Blues midfielder will be monitored with particular attention after the World Cup since he is fully focused on this objective for the moment.
