Even before knowing the result of the quarter-final between France and Morocco this evening, Kylian Mbappé and Didier Deschamps both achieved a historic mark. Starting for this meeting, the captain of the Blues will play the 20th match of his career in the World Cup. He thus equals Hugo Lloris, French record holder until then, and overtakes Antoine Griezmann, who stopped at 19 during the 2022 final.

For his part, Didier Deschamps will lead his 25th World Cup match. This is quite simply a record in the history of the competition. The Blues coach equals the German Helmut Schön and overtakes the Brazilian Carlos Alberto Parreira (24). DD could, at best, push this record up to 27 by the end of the World Cup. This will be the case if the Blues win this evening since they will be guaranteed to play the match for third place in the event of qualification in the last four.
