The France team validated its ticket to the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup by dominating Morocco (2-0) this Thursday.

The Blues hold their ticket for the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup. Facing Morocco this Thursday in the quarter-finals, the French team won with mastery (2-0), putting an end to the magnificent run of the Atlas Lions. Very enterprising from the kick-off, Didier Deschamps’ men quickly took control of the proceedings, but for a long time came up against the Moroccan defensive block.

Despite several dangerous situations, the Tricolores missed the opportunity to open the scoring in the 28th minute. Obtained by Kylian Mbappé, the penalty was repelled by an excellent Yassine Bounou, also saved by his crossbar just before the break.

Returning from the locker room, the Blues maintained the same control over the match. Their domination ended up being rewarded on the hour mark. Served at the entrance to the area by Michael Olise, Kylian Mbappé eliminated Diop before curling a superb right-footed shot into the opposite net (60th). Six minutes later, Ousmane Dembélé made the break by completing a full-line breakthrough (66th), definitively sealing the fate of the match. Thanks to this success, France joins the last four and will face, on July 14, the winner of the quarter-final between Spain and Belgium.

Mbappé, big scare?

However, the evening was not perfect for the Blues. A few minutes from the end, Kylian Mbappé suddenly stopped before lying down on the lawn holding the back of his thigh. The French captain immediately asked to leave, causing great concern a few days before the semi-finals.

The first images, however, proved rather reassuring. Seen on the bench with ice not on the back of the thigh, but on the right ankle, the Real Madrid striker seemed less concerned than when he left. While awaiting additional examinations or communication from the medical staff, the Blues hope that it is only an alert without consequences.
