FC Barcelona has made the search for a new center forward its priority during this summer transfer window in order to compensate for the departure of Robert Lewandowski. If the name of Harry Kane was indeed studied by the Catalan leaders, this avenue is today put aside according to Marca. Sports director Deco’s priority remains Julián Álvarez, even if Atlético de Madrid have, for the moment, no intention of selling their striker. Barça, however, hopes to be able to resume discussions once the World Cup is over and still believes in the possibility of reaching an agreement.
At the same time, the club is already preparing alternative solutions if the Álvarez case fails. Barcelona could choose not to recruit a center forward and redistribute offensive responsibilities to players like Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres or even Lamine Yamal. Another option would be to return to the transfer market, but the Harry Kane track appears very complicated. Bayern Munich does not wish to part with its English striker, author of an excellent season (60 goals in all competitions), and a departure could only be considered if the player himself asked to leave the club, a scenario which does not seem to be current.
