It’s no longer an open secret that Yan Diomandé has been among Liverpool’s top priorities on the transfer market for several weeks. Author of an exceptional season in the colors of RB Leipzig with 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 matches in all competitions, the 19-year-old Ivorian international has established himself as one of the most coveted young talents in European football. The Reds quickly took the lead by formulating a supposed first proposal estimated at nearly 100 million euros in order to convince the German leaders to give up their nugget. An offensive which illustrates the importance given to the file at Anfield, where Diomandé is considered the ideal successor to Mohamed Salah in the long term.
Despite this first particularly ambitious approach, RB Leipzig remained inflexible. German leaders continue to show their desire to keep their winger for at least one more season and are now demanding compensation of around 130 million euros to consider a departure. Liverpool, however, has never abandoned this avenue and has been preparing for several days a new, revised offer upwards in order to meet the demands of the Bundesliga club. At the same time, PSG remained attentive to developments, convinced of the player’s potential and ready to seize the slightest opportunity. Recent statements from Diomandé, who has never hidden his affection for the Parisian club, had already suggested that the European champion had serious arguments in this battle.
He only wants PSG
The latest elements revealed by The Athletic could, however, completely reshuffle the cards. According to the British media, Yan Diomandé has now chosen Paris Saint-Germain as his next destination if he were to leave RB Leipzig during this summer transfer window. The young Ivorian international, who is shining with the Elephants at the 2026 World Cup, would be fully convinced by the project led by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Luis Campos, while being particularly seduced by the prospect of playing under the orders of Luis Enrique. Despite Liverpool’s insistence and the financial resources deployed by the Reds, the player believes that PSG today represents the best environment to continue his progress and reach a new level in his career. Information also confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
Always according to The Athleticthe native of Abidjan considers that a transfer to the French capital would offer him the best guarantees to regularly fight for the biggest trophies and nourish his ambition of one day becoming a serious contender for the Ballon d’Or. This new information from David Ornstein obviously do not mean that the file is already closed since Leipzig continues to firmly defend its interests and is still trying to extend its contract, while the German club remains very demanding on the amount of a possible transfer. On the other hand, this choice of the player could well modify the balance of power in the coming weeks. If Paris decides to take concrete action, PSG, which will soon record the sales of Kang-in Lee and Gonçalo Ramos, would now have a major advantage against Liverpool in one of the hottest issues of this summer transfer window.
