The Nico Paz soap opera has finally found its epilogue. While Real Madrid had activated its buyout clause set at €9 million, the Argentine attacking midfielder will finally continue his adventure away from Real Madrid. After a consultation with José Mourinho and several hours of discussions between the two clubs, a new agreement was reached to allow the player to stay an additional season under the orders of Cesc Fàbregas, while giving Real Madrid control over his future, for an amount up to 60 million euros.

This choice responds above all to the wishes of the player, reports Marcawhile an exchange with Inter Milan and Alessandro Bastoni had been mentioned. Author of an excellent season in Serie A, Nico Paz believes he has found in Como the ideal setting to continue his progress thanks to significant playing time and a central role in the Italian club’s project. Convinced of his potential, the Lombard leaders did everything possible to keep their playmaker, while Real Madrid preferred to prioritize his development rather than an immediate return to an already very competitive squad.

A deal that suits all parties

The agreement thus allows the Merengues to retain control over the future of their young talent, author of 8 goals and 13 assists in 40 meetings with the Lariani during the last season. The Madrid club maintains different mechanisms allowing it to consider a return of the player or to control a possible future transfer. This strategy is part of Real Madrid’s policy, which consists of letting its young players develop in competitive championships while retaining rights over their future.

With this compromise, all parties can be satisfied. Como retains its flagship player, Nico Paz continues his rise in an environment where he benefits from total confidence, while Real Madrid remains ideally placed to recover the Argentinian international, currently with the Albiceleste in the United States, when the sporting context is more favorable. Nico Paz will therefore continue his career in Italy, but the doors of the Santiago Bernabéu remain wide open for a return of the 21-year-old attacking midfielder in the years to come.
