Last March, Rafa Mir (28 years old) saw the prosecution request ten and a half years in prison for an aggravated crime of sexual assault, which occurred in September 2024, when the player was playing in Valencia, and was on loan from Sevilla. This Monday, the entire Spanish press announced that the fourth chamber of the Valencia Court of Appeal did not follow the recommendations of the prosecution, but sentenced the Elche player to eight and a half years in prison. The judgment, which can still be appealed, provides that the attacker will have to serve a seven-year prison sentence for sexual assault and an additional 18 months for assault and battery.

He is prohibited from approaching the victim within 500 meters for ten years and he is ordered to pay her 14,000 euros in damages for physical harm and 50,000 euros for moral harm. Note that the court also sentenced footballer Pablo Jara, who received a two-year prison sentence for sexual assault and an additional six months for an offense against moral integrity concerning a second victim. In his case, he is also prohibited from approaching the victim for five years and he will have to pay compensation of 280 euros for the injuries and 6,000 euros for moral damage.
