Courted by FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid, Bernardo Silva (31) finally said yes to Real Madrid, who acceded to all his requests and those of his agent. The former Monaco player will join the Iberian capital on a free after the end of his contract at Manchester City on June 30. But The Confidential specifies that the midfielder, who will turn 32 in August, will delay his signing until July. Although the deal is closed, both parties have agreed to wait a few days.

The Confidential explains that this delay is solely motivated by tax reasons. Indeed, Bernardo Silva wants to spend as little time as possible on Spanish soil in order to avoid paying 45% taxes. For this, he must prove that he has not resided for more than 183 days in Spain as stipulated by the country’s law. By joining the Merengues in July, he will reside on the other side of the Pyrenees for a shorter period of time and avoid paying more taxes.
