In the middle of the World Cup, Gonçalo Ramos would be very close to leaving PSG to join AC Milan, which is preparing to make the biggest transfer in its history.

As the World Cup continues in North America, Paris Saint-Germain is preparing to accelerate its summer transfer window. Currently engaged with Portugal, Gonçalo Ramos is getting closer to a departure after two seasons spent in the capital.

Lacking playing time and eager to regain starting status, the Portuguese center forward should take charge of Serie A. AC Milan has made the Parisian striker a priority and would be ready to make a major investment to secure his services.

According to information from The Athleticthe discussions also resulted in an agreement between PSG, the Lombard club and the player. Unless the situation turns around, the officialization of the transfer would only be a matter of time.

A record operation

The amount of the operation has not yet been filtered, but The Athletic claims that it will be the most expensive transfer in the history of AC Milan, ahead of the 50 million euros spent for Rafael Leao in 2019. On the other hand, this sum would remain lower than the Serie A record, still held by the 74 million euros invested by Inter to recruit Romelu Lukaku the same year.

In Milan, Gonçalo Ramos should finally find a role that matches his ambitions. The Portuguese international, who wants to establish himself as an indisputable starter in a major European championship, should benefit from much more playing time than at PSG. This change of scenery will also allow him to reunite with his compatriot Ruben Amorim. The two men have an excellent relationship, a factor which would have helped convince the Portuguese striker to join the Lombard club.
