AC Milan finally has its new coach. The transfer of Rúben Amorim to Lombardy is now finalized. The Portuguese technician has signed with the Rossoneri for the next two seasons, i.e. until 2028), a lease with an option for a third additional year. This movement marks the return to the forefront of the Lusitano coach, just a few months after the end of his adventure on the Manchester United bench last January.

This marriage between the Italian club and the tactician was not included in the program, however. Following his departure from the Premier League, Amorim had initially planned to take a year off and not return to action for the coming season. This was without taking into account the urgent call from AC Milan, an offer surely deemed irrefutable by the main interested party.

A salary of 3.5 million net per year for Ruben Amorim

Amorim did not hide his pride when talking about this immense new challenge facing him: “AC Milan announces that it has entrusted technical direction of the men’s first team to Rúben Amorim. Amorim began his coaching career in 2018, after ending his professional football career, during which he played for Belenenses and Benfica, as well as the Portugal national team.», Indicates the press release from the Serie A club.

Financially, the former Sporting CP coach will receive a net annual salary of 3.5 million euros, supplemented by bonuses linked to titles and performances. For the objectives he will have to meet, Amorim will absolutely have to bring Milan back to the Champions League. The Rossoneri remain on two consecutive failures in Serie A, having failed in 8th then 5th places in the standings during the last two seasons. The Portuguese will have the difficult task of straightening out this sleeping giant and, also, boosting his popularity after a chaotic spell at United.
