A new lunar episode proposed by the LFP. The Champions Trophy which begins the season in France, between the Ligue 1 champion and the winner of the Coupe de France, PSG and RC Lens, will not be contested abroad. In recent years, the Parisians have won in Kuwait, Qatar, Israel, China, Tunisia, Austria, Canada and Gabon! The league has been relocating this meeting since 2009.
While the LFP was not convinced by the organization of the Women’s League Cup between OL and PSG in Abidjan last March, it decided to let the two clubs in the 2026 Champions Trophy agree on a match venue. Unsurprisingly, the leaders of the Rouge et Bleu and Sang et Or, who offered to host the meeting in their own stadium, did not reach an agreement.
PSG already at the Parc des Princes in 2024
Result of the races, the LFP will carry out a draw on Wednesday, at 1 p.m., in order to know the club which will host the meeting on Saturday August 15 or Sunday August 16, at the Parc des Princes or at Bollaert. The Parisian team has already regained the organization of the 2023 Champions Trophy in its lair at the Parc (2-0 victory against Toulouse, January 3, 2024), after the cancellation of the meeting in Bangkok.
At the time, the LFP of President Vincent Labrune had not consulted the two clubs and the leaders of the Violets had expressed their dissatisfaction. The Toulouse ultras had decided to boycott the meeting in the capital and… the Parisian ultras had done the same to protest against the price of tickets set by the league!
