Once again, after an important match, the city of Paris experienced scenes worthy of riots or urban guerrillas rather than celebrations of a football title. On social networks, numerous images are circulating, where we can see so-called supporters attacking the police, damaging street furniture and even looting stores. Scenes of chaos and vandalism which have, unfortunately, become usual in Paris but also elsewhere in France.

Indeed, other cities like Grenoble or Nantes have also experienced, in places, complicated times. In total, 416 people were arrested across the country, including 283 in Paris, where the ring road, the Champs-Elysées and its adjacent streets as well as the Porte de Saint-Cloud were the main hotspots of the evening. And this afternoon, a parade is organized in Paris at the Champ-de-Mars, where 100,000 people are expected to welcome the players and celebrate the title with them.

Another party ruined?

Obviously, new incidents are to be feared. “Even if today it is going to be more of a celebration of supporters than of abuses, because it will take place during the day, we still expect that there will still be troublemakers who will, once again, want to spoil the party”indicated Fabien Bogais, spokesperson for the Alliance 75 union, RMC Sport. “There will be no questioning of the festivities which will be held tomorrow on the Champ-de-Mars”for his part launched the Minister of the Interior Laurent Nuñez.

Obviously, a substantial security system has already been put in place, with no less than 835 private security agents who will be present on site. The authorities have also planned a major strategic plan, with thirty law enforcement units to secure everything, while medical personnel have also been mobilized, specifies The Parisian. For its part, the club has already launched calls for calm: “Paris Saint-Germain calls on everyone to experience this historic moment with pride, responsibility and respect so that this celebration reflects this exceptional season: popular, united and exemplary”. Let’s hope the party isn’t spoiled.
