Paris Saint-Germain’s victory in the Champions League final was marked by numerous excesses across France. A man in his twenties notably lost his life on the sidelines of the celebrations and 57 police and gendarmerie officers were injured. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced that 780 people were arrested across the country, an increase of 32% compared to last year.

Present to welcome the players this Sunday, Emmanuel Macron strongly condemned the violence observed in the capital and elsewhere: “Paris won, two stars. We have seen unacceptable scenes of violence in Paris. I thank the Minister of the Interior and all the teams mobilized. It’s not football, it’s not what we like. We will be uncompromising with those who have been caught. We don’t want to see that anymore, it’s over! We’re fed up. Finished”assured the Head of State.
