Recruited for 40 million euros from RB Leipzig in July 2021, Ibrahima Konaté is reaching the end of the contract which binds him to Liverpool until the end of June. If an extension seemed imminent a few weeks ago, the situation ended up changing and the French defender will indeed leave the English club. The Reds announced it this Sunday.
It was through its social networks that Liverpool made the news official. “Liverpool FC can confirm that Ibrahima Konaté will leave the club this summer at the end of his contract. Konaté leaves with our gratitude and appreciation for her contribution. The entire club wishes him the best for the rest of his career. »
Much less to his advantage in recent months, like his entire team, Ibrahima Konaté will therefore take off for other adventures. All this will happen after a 2026 World Cup to which he was invited by Didier Deschamps to the French team.
Ibrahima Konaté, free to choose
Several clubs have already raised their hands to indicate their interest in possible recruitment. This is for example the case of Real Madrid which is particularly looking for a left back and a central defender, according to the wishes of its potential future coach, José Mourinho. Some observers would see it on the PSG side, but the option seems quite unlikely at present.
With a market value estimated at fifty million euros, which his next team will not have to pay, Ibrahima Konaté should have a few courtiers for his next challenge. It remains to be seen what his final choice will be. A choice which should not take place before the end of the World Cup.
