Political reactions did not take long after the numerous excesses that occurred on the sidelines of the celebrations of PSG’s coronation in the Champions League. On the side of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen strongly denounced the violence observed in several French cities. “It is only in France where the victory of a football club provokes riots”wrote the MP on X, before adding that“It is only in France where everyone feels obliged to lock themselves in their homes on a victory evening to avoid being confronted with violence”.
Jordan Bardella also criticized the incidents recorded in the evening. “In Paris, in Île-de-France as everywhere in the territory, violence and degradation are increasing. Gangs are attacking public property, businesses and law enforcement,” declared the president of the RN. He then denounced a “mode of operation” consisting of “stoning, destroying, pillaging”while bringing its “full support” to the police, gendarmes and firefighters mobilized on the ground.
