As indicated Foot Mercato Wednesday evening, the exchanges between Stéphane Richard and Genesio have been very positive in recent hours and an agreement could be reached in the coming days, despite interest from Paris FC and an approach from AS Monaco for the 59-year-old technician.
Genesio to relaunch OM
Bruno Genesio left to manage a fourth Ligue 1 club. This Lyon native was a midfielder for Les Gones from 1985 to 1995 (170 matches) then joined the staff in 2005, becoming assistant to Rémi Garde in 2011 before being named head coach of OL in 2015 until 2019. “Pep” Genesio (a mocking nickname given by supporters Rhone) then managed Stade Rennais and Losc, after a stint in China (2019-2021).
Genesio has had six European seasons, including three in the Champions League, and, if all this is confirmed, will lead OM in the Europa League from September. He will try to build consistency with the squad which will offer him Grégory Lorenzi, who will be responsible for selling several players with high market value (notably Mason Greenwood) before recruiting seasoned elements in L1.
