The standoff started by Enzo Fernández (25) with Chelsea is slowly tilting in the Argentinian’s favor. For several months, the world champion has been pushing to leave a club which still recruited him for €121 million in the winter of 2023 and locked in until 2032. A sure bet in the squad (54 matches played this season, 15 goals and 7 assists in all competitions), he has become one of the vice-captains. However, the bad results have been there.

Eliminated in the round of 16 of the Champions League by PSG, Chelsea missed out on their season. 10th in the Premier League, the club did not qualify for any European competition at the start of the school year, despite €339 million invested in the summer and then winter markets. Enzo Maresca inevitably paid the price for this sporting instability, even though he won the Club World Cup last summer, replaced by Liam Rosenior who lasted three and a half months, before being fired in his turn.

Chelsea are coming to terms

The former Strasbourg coach was also on the front line in the Fernández case. After the player’s statements about Madrid, a city that he “like it very much», he had to dismiss it. These were not his first words in this sense and it quickly annoyed the locker room, at the very moment when the club was swaying. Javier Pastore, the midfielder’s agent, did little to calm things down either. On the contrary, Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City have started to look into the matter.

On the Blues side, we did not want to lose the man who is considered the best player on the team but the situation is changing. Management would obviously prefer to sell the former Benfica player to a club outside the Premier League so as not to strengthen a competitor. It is especially towards the Merengues that all eyes are turned, and that the prospecting is the most intense. Latest element to date in this file, a sale price has been set according to the BBC. Starting investment: £120 million or €138 million. The courtiers have been warned.
