It’s now official: Enrique Riquelme will be a candidate in the presidential elections for Real Madrid. The principal concerned had already confirmed it publicly, but a final step still had to be validated. The Real Madrid assembly had to give the green light to his candidacy, verifying that he met all the imperative criteria to run, including a bank guarantee of around 180 million euros.
It is now done, since the Riquelme candidacy has been approved, as announced by the club via an official press release. It remains to be seen when these elections will take place, but the Madrid press indicates that there is a strong chance that they will take place on Sunday June 7.
