RC Lens, a 40 million transfer to PSG?

RC Lens could lose one of the great revelations of its historic season this summer. For the benefit of PSG.

RC Lens will have had a historic season, punctuated by a first Coupe de France and a good second place in the championship, just six points behind PSG. Among the great architects of this successful exercise is a young talent of 21 years old. The defensive revelation Ismaëlo Ganiou, formidable alongside the experienced pillar played by Malang Sarr.

Trained in Lens, for a time loaned to Annecy to gain strength, the native of Lille played his very first Ligue 1 match on October 4, before gradually establishing himself in the rearguard set up by Pierre Sage, with 29 matches played to his credit, including 23 in the league, and three goals scored.

Today an international Espoirs tricolor, Ismaëlo Ganiou is one of the great promises for the future in his position. It is therefore not surprising that the outgoing European champion, PSG, is interested in his case. According to the Spanish media Fichajes, discussions have already started between the two clubs concerned.

French defenders are popular

Under contract until June 2028, the young player is listed modestly at 10 million euros on Transfermarkt, but it is the sum of 40 million euros which is advanced for his possible transfer to the capital. An envelope capable of convincing Sang et Or who to date are betting a lot on their nugget.

For two years, young French defenders have been popular on the market of the great powers of European football. Ex-Lille Leny Yoro and future ex-Rennais Jérémy Jacquet thus joined England – Manchester United and Liverpool respectively – for amounts exceeding 60 million euros. Last summer, PSG for its part bet no less than 67 million euros to poach Ukrainian defender Illya Zabarnyi from Bournemouth.
