Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa has officially announced his departure from the club at the end of the season.

Even if there was no doubt about his departure from Real Madrid, the announcement was still eagerly awaited. Successor to Xabi Alonso on the bench of the Madrid club last January, Alvaro Arbeloa has not really managed to turn things around, finishing the 2025-2026 season without winning any trophies.

Present at a pre-match press conference against Athletic Bilbao, scheduled for this Saturday (9 p.m.), the Spanish tactician officially announced that he was leaving Casa Blanca.

“I want to see a great match, say goodbye to the public in the best possible way and deliver a victory. There is a lot of effort behind it, playing the last game at home is always something special. You have to have fun at the Bernabéu”he indicated.

Arbeloa: “I hope it’s just goodbye”

While awaiting the appointment of JosĂ© Mourinho, Alvaro Arbeloa took the opportunity to clarify his situation, affirming that he would not become the Portuguese’s deputy: “ I’m not here to talk about possibilities. Mourinho has a fantastic technical staff, he is very well surrounded. If he comes, he will come with his team, as he should. There is no question of me joining him. »

Then to say goodbye, or almost. “ I hope this is just goodbye. I have always considered Madrid my home. I’ve been here for 20 years, it’s my home. It’s my last match of the season, I don’t know if it will be the last of my career as Real Madrid coach, you never know. »
