Man City: a stand at the Etihad Stadium will bear the name of Pep Guardiola

The tributes follow one another for Pep Guardiola. After announcing his departure from Manchester City at the end of the season, the Spanish coach was offered the position of ambassador for the City Football Group. And that’s not all. The English club has just announced that one of the stands at the Etihad Stadium will now bear the Catalan’s name.

“Manchester City are pleased to announce that the newly refurbished and extended North Stand at the Etihad Stadium will be named ‘The Pep Guardiola Stand’. Fittingly, the stand will be open to the public for the first time for the manager’s final match in charge, the season-closing encounter against Aston Villa on Sunday. His Highness Sheikh Mansour bestowed this prestigious honor in recognition of Pep’s incredible contribution during his historic ten years at the helm of the club. As part of this name change, a statue of Pep will also be commissioned and installed at the entrance to the Pep Guardiola Stand”indicates the press release.
