The crisis at Olympique de Marseille began on the first day of the Ligue 1 exercise which has just ended. An altercation occurred between Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe, in the Marseille locker room, after the defeat on the pitch at Stade Rennais.
This fight then led to the departure of the two players at the end of the transfer window. The French international took charge of AC Milan, while the Briton joined Bologna.
In the columns of The Athletic, he gave new elements about the scene in question. Initially, Jonathan Rowe reportedly fell out with goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli. This is when Adrien Rabiot intervened.
Rowe-Rabiot, the Frenchman started?
“It got out of hand. It was because of a remark he made (…) The problem is that… De Zerbi and Mehdi (Benatia), the sports director, did not see Rabiot’s first punch at the beginning. They only saw me come back and hit him. So they probably thought I hit him for no apparent reason. I had to explain myself afterwards”explained the 23-year-old.
Coincidentally with the Serie A calendar, the two players met almost as soon as they arrived in Italy, on the third day of the championship. They then shook hands.
