Away from the field for several weeks due to a muscle injury, Lamine Yamal is showing great caution in his recovery.

No risk-taking is envisaged around Lamine Yamal. Away from the field since the end of April, the FC Barcelona winger has missed his team’s last five matches. Hit during the victory against Celta Vigo (1-0) on April 22, he suffered from a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his left leg.

While waiting for his return, the young Spanish international was seen this weekend in Barcelona, during the Spanish leg of the Kings League. Present in the stands, he encouraged his team, La Capital CF, finally beaten in the semi-final by Rayo de Barcelona (7-3).

On this occasion, a journalist asked him if he would agree to try the “president’s penalty” if the opportunity presented itself. Faithful to the caution surrounding his resumption, the 2024 European champion with Spain responded with a smile but without detour: “
I’m not going to touch a ball until the World Cup.”.

Eight weeks of unavailability

When announcing his injury, FC Barcelona initially communicated an estimated unavailability of between six and eight weeks, with a gradual return to competition. At this stage, the player has only completed four weeks of convalescence and must still wait before returning to the training center.

Sunday evening, the Spanish international was also present in the stands of the Camp Nou to attend the last home match of the season for Barça, already crowned champion of Spain, against Betis Sevilla (3-1). A symbolic appearance in the middle of the celebrations, while his return to competition still remains unclear as the World Cup approaches.
