The 2025/2026 Ligue 1 season ended this Sunday evening, with a huge multiplex of nine simultaneous matches. One of the main issues of this multiplex of the 34th day was the race for European places and in particular the Champions League. Third before this day, Lille lost on home soil against Auxerre (0-2). A defeat without consequence for the Mastiffs, who will compete in the C1 next season alongside PSG and RC Lens, following OL’s heavy defeat against Lens (0-4).
With this setback, Paulo Fonseca’s men (4th) said goodbye to the Champions League and will compete in the Europa League again next year. Marseille, which swept Rennes (3-1), finished 5th and also qualified for the C3 league phase while Rennes will compete in qualifying for the Conference League. The big loser of this evening is none other than AS Monaco, beaten in Strasbourg (5-4). The Monegasques will nevertheless have a final chance to play the C4 if RC Lens were to win the Coupe de France.
